| Prayer Reminders From Your Worship Commission |
| The most important purpose of prayer is shifting control to God. If we are praying for ourselves, our prayers should always be a giving up of control to Him, asking God to take over our lives and putting Him in charge. We often forget to do this, but God doesn’t seize authority in our lives. He waits for us to give it to Him. When we pray “Thy will be done” it should mean putting God in charge. While we can give up the control of our own lives to God, it’s different when we pray for other people. Control of their lives is not ours to give. When we pray for others, or for our country, we are asking God to intervene in lives and situations, sometimes in spite of the people involved. We acknowledge that God has the power to do this. We must always pray with the belief that God is able to do what we are asking. It may seem impossible to us, but we know that with God all things are possible. (Matt. 19:26) In her new book “Jesus The Model”, Joy Dawson writes: “Prayer is about bringing God into every situation and asking Him to change it from something natural into something supernatural so that He can get all the glory”.** As we start a new year, let’s us try to put God in charge of our lives by giving Him full control. It’s not always easy to give up control; we want to be in charge of our lives, but God wants us to give Him full control. Then let’s remember to pray for others as He brings them to mind. Lastly, let’s pray regularly about everything that’ s going on in America, both locally and nationally, for God’s best will in every situation. It’s a huge task – but God can handle it. ** Courtesy of Intercessors For America Prayer Letter, December 2009 |
