The children were surprised with a visit from Santa, but Katie and I didn’t get a
chance to tell Santa what we want for Christmas, but then again we have everything we
need here at school.  We are warm, fed and even clothed with the scrapes of craft
supplies that we find.  Katie has some beautiful new clothes now because of all the
pretty ribbons and colorful things we are finding.

The children brought in so many things to share this season.  First they brought food
for the food pantry in November.  Then they brought supplies that are being sent to help
the soldiers.  This group called Thrivent even donated money to buy phone cards for the
soldiers.  And finally Mrs. Lacalamita’s class made gift bags that were filled with small
toys, toothbrushes, and toothpaste that are being taken to the Samaritan Inn.  Katie and
I think the children are truly learning the spirit of giving this Christmas.

Boy, it was a busy month because we still had the Christmas program to see.   The
children looked so cute as Katie and I hid out in the manger and watched and listened to
the singing.  The church always looks so beautiful and is so peaceful at Christmas, except
for the mouse on Miss Betty’s desk in the office.  We thought that was our great Aunt
Hilda but Aunt Hilda doesn’t play music.  And, of course, the refreshments after the
program were the BEST.

Katie and I hope that after all the excitement of December that January isn’t too
boring.  We hope that we don’t get many snow days because things are really quiet on
those days.  We already had one snow day and boy was it quiet.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Did you see our mouse nativity set on top of Mrs.
Herzberg’s desk?  We enjoyed sharing it with everyone.

       Love, Marty and Katie

Dear Friends,

The month of December was a FANTASTIC
month for 2 little mice.  Katie and I had great time.
We started by helping the church ladies when they
used the nursery school area to prepare for their
luncheon.  Great food!!  Then we had pajama day –
that hot chocolate sure warmed us up, but those
were funny looking snowmen the children made.

The excitement of the month kept on going when
the fire alarm went off over lunch hour, Mrs.
Lacalamita’s class did a great job of getting out of
the building and listening to their teachers.
